A good clearance quote depends on a good description. The more clearly you can describe the job, the quicker and more accurate the quote. These are the five things worth telling any clearance company.
1. What needs to go
Garden waste, furniture, household clutter, builders’ rubble, timber, mixed waste from a refit? Different waste is handled differently, so a quick list helps. Mention anything bulky or heavy, such as a piano, a hot tub, or a pile of broken concrete.
2. Roughly how much
You do not need to be exact. Describing it as “about two car boot loads”, “a pile the size of a small car” or “a garage, half full” gives a clearance team a good sense of the volume.
3. Where it is and how we get to it
Is the waste at the front of the house, in the back garden, in a loft or a basement? How far is it from where a vehicle can park, and are there steps, narrow passages or parking restrictions on the street? Access affects how long the job takes more than almost anything else.
4. Anything hazardous
Some waste, including asbestos, paint, chemicals and certain electrical items, is classed as hazardous and has to be handled under separate rules. Mention it up front, so you get a straight answer about whether it can be taken.
5. When you need it gone
If there is a deadline, such as the end of a tenancy, a completion date or builders arriving, say so. It changes how a job is planned.
